22nd January 2011 when most of citizens of Bangalore were forced to stay indoors on account of political bundh, authorities of Lalbagh had other thoughts. Hats off to the organizers for defying the odds and keeping their bi-annual flower show on !
As iterated several times in this blog the bi-annual flower show is like a heaven for macro photography enthusiasts. There are tonnes of variety of flowers to photograph and different kinds of insects doing their routine activity on the flowers is a value add. This time moving up the value chain, I experimented with Nikon's flagship macro lens i.e. 105 mm VR. The lens was rented for two days from Toehold .. Rent ? well, owning the lens is currently out of my budget :)
Show Details:
- Entry Fee: Rs.40 on holidays, Rs.30 otherwise.
- Timings: 8 am to 7.30 pm
- Tip Off: Don't restrict yourself to the glass house. In case you are a macro photography enthusiast and find glass house too crowded, try shooting at nurseries next to the hillock. Flowers kept there for sale are in better condition !
I couldn't go there even once during flower show.. may be next time...
